I have never spoken to anyone who has made that claim (at least to my knowledge). Whoever stated that must not have been around the web very often though. I’ve participated in several (failed) group blogs years before AB’s existence.
I agree with Megori. On A.B.’s site nowhere did I see them say or imply that they started it. Of course they didn’t invent it, it’s been around for years.
Perhaps a lil’ bit of reading-between-the-lines would do - but I think this aside is in response to the comment about FD being a fake dub of AB, trying to do the same things they did (and, quote them, “fail(ing) at it”.) Correct me if I’m wrong.
Maybe the choice of words here doesn’t do much justice to the opinion being expressed?
@Ari: Sorry but if that were the “between-the-lines” that was trying to be made, it should’ve been done in a much better way. However, in many ways, FD IS attempting to do what AB did (although failing or not is not up to me to decide). One of the only major differences is the tone of voice FD is trying to hold (which is neutral but some of the posts here have left me with very nasty after tastes). Again, I say FD is trying to remain neutral while AB didn’t care whether or not they offended anyone.
It’s hard to “read-between-the-lines” when it’s just, “Who said AB invented Group blogging?” is the only line stated here…UNLESS this person or persons went to several group blogs and said they were all attempting to be like AB…THEN this aside would’ve made sense in THAT manner.

# 27/07/08: Excuse me, but since when did AB invent group blogging? (more)
# 23/04/08: Does anyone other than me find it strange when people ask for affiliation or link exchange by saying, “I’d like to invite you to be my affiliate/exchange”? Shouldn’t it be, “I’d like to ask you to be my affiliate/exchange”? (more)

You know, there’s another site that you pay for them to tell you that your design sucks? http://www.terribad.org/
I actually “know” the guy on a forum.
