Oh dear… Well, brick wall or not, and notwithstanding the complaints we have or had about it, it always seems to get in the way. Designer’s Block or Writer’s Block seems to always be the main excuse for something less than trivial. But for now, I’ll be focusing on the block of the Writer’s Block.
What is a Writer’s Block?
To sum it up, it is a gigantic, impenetrable wall that seems to befuddle even the greatest of writers - or are they really great?
Writers, such as you and me, and everyone else always seem to complain about this “impenetrable wall” of theirs. If you really were a writer, would you even consider such a thing as a Writer’s Block? What about the greatest of writers, if they complained about this impregnable wall, they wouldn’t be such great writers, would they?
To be able to write, and write well is a gift - of course you can always learn how to write well. But to those who can write well, understand this, writing is imagination, yes, even essays are also. And a writer’s block really isn’t “something” that a writer should complain about.
Writing encompasses nothing and everything, the subject is practically limitless, whether you write about your daily doings, or something profound such as the meaning of life, writing is imagination. Even the narrowest mind can write something that sparks interest and the most engaging mind may not. But to complain about a wall that isn’t even substantial but just an excuse for not “being able to write” is inexcusable.
This wall that we all waver against when it comes to writing is nothing more than a shallow mind thinking about trying to write something that can astonish the whole room. Profound or not, anything can be written of and about whether or not you want to astonish the whole room or yourself.
